If your child is complaining of a persistent toothache that won’t seem to go away, feel free to give them an appropriate over-the-counter pain reliever and apply a cold compress to the area for only 10 minutes at a time. This will help ease any discomfort.

Chipped/Broken Tooth

For a chipped or broken tooth, we advise you to find and bring in the missing pieces of their tooth, if possible. Have them gently rinse their mouth with a lukewarm salt water solution. If there’s a jagged edge of their tooth that’s snagging on the inside of their cheek, you can place a piece of sugar-free gum or orthodontic wax over the area.

Cracked Tooth  

Usually, a cracked tooth can be protected (and saved) with a dental crown. If the tooth is damaged beyond the point of repair, then we will recommend an extraction instead.

Lost Filling/Crown

Lost fillings and crowns require timely attention, although they may not need same-day care. Our team will help assess the severity of your situation over the phone. In some cases, we may need to replace the restoration, but if you’re able to find it and there’s nothing wrong with it, we could re-seat it back atop the tooth (this only applies for dental crowns). Dental fillings will likely need to be replaced.
